As Vea attempted a takedown, Magtibay locked in a gullotine choke but couldn't finish the fight. Eventually Vea used a step over trip to get the fight to the ground where he established side control. He used some effective short elbows to help tranisition to the mount where Magtibay was able to muscle his way free. Magtibay again tried for the gullotine but it was easily defended by Vea, and at the end of the round Vea was able to take Magtibay's back and secure the rear naked choke. Magtibay tapped just as the bell rang so we were on to round 2. Vea shot in and quickly took Magtibay's back and drug him to the ground.
