Joe "Da Super Villain" Vea Defeats a Very Game Arby Magtibay at PureCombat MMA in Stockton, CA on May 9th 2008

Stockton, CA - Devastation Co. managed and Brudda's BJJ and Ajarn Andy K trained, Joe "Da Super Villain" Vea won his pro debut at Purecombat MMA in Stockton, CA over a very game Arby Magtibay of Bakersfield, CA.

In the early going, Magtibay used his height and reach advantage to get the better of an early exchange forcing a clinch situation against the fence. As Vea attempted a takedown, Magtibay locked in a gullotine choke but couldn't finish the fight. Eventually Vea used a step over trip to get the fight to the ground where he established side control. He used some effective short elbows to help tranisition to the mount where Magtibay was able to muscle his way free. Magtibay again tried for the gullotine but it was easily defended by Vea, and at the end of the round Vea was able to take Magtibay's back and secure the rear naked choke. Magtibay tapped just as the bell rang so we were on to round 2. Vea shot in and quickly took Magtibay's back and drug him to the ground. On his the fallen Magtibay's back, Vea rained down punches until the ref stopped the fight at :47 of round 2.

Joe Vea moves to 1-0, and is scheduled to fight at the October 17th Purecombat show in Stockton, CA.
